Balatro Score Calculator: Chips, Mult and Best Play

Free Balatro score calculator for cards, jokers and hand levels. Compare plays, inspect Chips and Mult, and learn scoring order with hand value tables.

How to use the Balatro score calculator

  1. The calculator opens with an example hand. Press Clear to remove it, then add up to 8 cards of your own. Long-press or right-click a card, or select exactly one card and press Edit card, to set its enhancement, edition, seal or debuff.
  2. Add your jokers in the same left-to-right order they sit in your run. Jokers that grow over a run, such as Ride the Bus, ask for their current value.
  3. Tap up to 5 cards to play. The score bar shows Chips × Mult and whether the hand clears the blind.
  4. Open Run settings to set the ante, blind, stake, money and hand levels from Planet cards.
  5. Check Best plays to compare suggested card combinations, then select one and open How it scored to see where every point came from.

Balatro poker hand base Chips and Mult

Every hand starts from a base Chips and Mult value. Each Planet card you use levels its hand up by a fixed amount, so a level 3 Flush starts at 65 Chips and 8 Mult.

Scoring cards then add their rank in Chips: number cards add their face value, Jacks, Queens and Kings add 10, and Aces add 11. A level 1 Pair of plain Kings with no jokers scores (10 + 10 + 10) x 2 = 60. A Royal Flush uses the Straight Flush values.

Balatro scoring order, step by step

  1. Base: the hand type sets the starting Chips and Mult at its current level. Boss blinds such as The Flint can change this.
  2. Played cards: each scoring card resolves from left to right. It adds its rank Chips, then its enhancement, seal and edition, then any joker effects it triggers. Retriggers repeat that card before the next one.
  3. Held cards: cards left in your hand resolve next, from left to right. Steel cards give x1.5 Mult and jokers such as Baron trigger here.
  4. Jokers: each joker applies its main effect from left to right. Foil and Holographic jokers add their bonus before the main effect, Polychrome after it.
  5. Final score: Chips × Mult, rounded down. Plasma Deck balances Chips and Mult just before this step.

Normally a Pair scores only the two paired cards. Extra played Stone cards also score, and Splash makes every played card score. Debuffed cards add nothing.

+Mult vs xMult: why joker order matters

+Mult adds a flat amount. xMult multiplies the current Mult. When two effects act independently in the same scoring phase, applying +Mult before xMult gives more Mult.

  • 10 Mult, then +20, then x3 = 90 Mult.
  • 10 Mult, then x3, then +20 = 50 Mult.

For independent effects, put +Mult jokers to the left of xMult jokers. Copying jokers such as Blueprint and Brainstorm depend on position, so check them separately. A Glass card applies its x2 during played-card scoring, before the joker phase.

Balatro scoring FAQ

How is a Balatro hand score calculated?

The score is Chips times Mult. The poker hand sets the starting Chips and Mult, then scoring cards add their effects from left to right, then held cards, then jokers from left to right. The result is rounded down.

What is the difference between +Mult and xMult?

+Mult adds to the current Mult, while xMult multiplies it. For independent effects in the same scoring phase, apply +Mult first. Copying jokers and card-triggered effects can change the best arrangement.

How much does a Planet card level up a hand?

Each Planet card adds a fixed amount of Chips and Mult to one poker hand. For example, Jupiter adds 15 Chips and 2 Mult to Flush, and Pluto adds 10 Chips and 1 Mult to High Card.

How do retriggers and Red Seals work?

A retrigger repeats one card's effects, not the whole hand. A Red Seal retriggers its card once. Jokers such as Hanging Chad, Sock and Buskin and Mime add more retriggers when their conditions match.

How many chips do I need to beat a blind?

It depends on the ante, the blind and the stake. The Small Blind asks for the ante base score, the Big Blind for 1.5 times it, and most Boss Blinds for 2 times it. The calculator shows the target for the ante and blind you set.

Why can the calculator differ from my game score?

Check hand levels, card and joker order, modifiers, debuffs and run settings, and enter current values for jokers that grow during a run. The calculator assumes chance effects such as Lucky cards do not trigger and uses the minimum for Misprint, so a lucky roll in game scores higher.
