Balatro Planet Cards: All 12, Ranked
Exact scaling gains, a tier list, and when each Planet is worth buying. Effects come from the game files; tiers average 12 player tier lists.
Updated October 2026
Quick answer
Planet cards are consumables that cost $3 in the shop and appear in Celestial Packs, Blue Seals, and The High Priestess to permanently upgrade base Chips and Mult for a specific poker hand. In player rankings, nine of the twelve cards sit in B tier because the best Planet is simply the one matching the hand your run plays. Players rate Mercury (Pair) highest by a hair, and Saturn and Mars (Straight, Four of a Kind) are a hair behind.
Planet tier list
Averaged from 12 player tier lists (2024 to 2025). Most Planets land in B: the best Planet is the one that levels the hand you play.
B tier
C tier
D tier
Each Planet's tier is the average of 12 player tier lists: ZainoTV's 2025 consumable tier list and 11 community lists from TierMaker. S counts 5, A 4, B 3, C 2, D 1, F 0, then cards are grouped into tiers by score (S >= 4.5, A >= 3.75, B >= 2.9, C >= 1.85, else D). Nine of twelve Planets land in B because a Planet is only as good as the hand you build around. Secret Planets (Eris, Ceres, Planet X) only appear in the shop after playing their hand. Effects are checked against the game's data files (version 1.0.1).
The tier list can't see your build. BalatroBuddy can.
Tell it your deck and Jokers, and it calculates the exact scoring boost of every Planet card before you buy.
Shop has Jupiter for $3 and a Jumbo Celestial Pack for $6. Playing Flushes with Constellation. Which should I buy with $9?
BalatroBuddy: Buy Jupiter from the shop instead of the pack. It guarantees your Flush upgrade of +2 Mult and +15 Chips, triggers Constellation for +X0.1 Mult, and leaves you with $6 so you stay above the $5 interest threshold. The pack costs $6, may not offer Jupiter at all, and drops you to $3, losing your interest dollar.

Planet card questions
What is the best Planet card in Balatro?
The best Planet is the one that upgrades the poker hand your run plays. Across 12 player tier lists, Mercury (Pair), Saturn (Straight), and Mars (Four of a Kind) average highest, but nine of the twelve Planets land in the same B tier.
How do you unlock secret Planet cards in Balatro?
Planet X, Ceres, and Eris do not appear in shops or Celestial Packs until you play their respective hands (Five of a Kind, Flush House, and Flush Five) at least once during that run. After playing the hand, its Planet card enters the pool for the remainder of the run.
How much do Planet cards cost and where do they come from?
Planet cards cost $3 in the shop. You can also find them in Celestial Packs ($4 to $8), generate them randomly from The High Priestess Tarot card, or create the Planet for your final hand played by holding a Blue Seal card at round end.
Do Planet card hand level upgrades last forever?
Planet card upgrades last for the entire current run with no level cap. However, hand levels reset back to level 1 whenever you begin a new run.
