Ectoplasm
Effect: Add Negative edition to a random editionless Joker, -1 hand size plus 1 per previous Ectoplasm this run
Ectoplasm in Balatro: Add Negative edition to a random editionless Joker, -1 hand size plus 1 per previous Ectoplasm this run. Effect, risks, and when the payoff is worth it.
Source: Spectral Pack (and Ghost Deck shop); shop cost is $4
Unlock requirement: Available from start
Strategy Tip
Negative jokers don't take a joker slot, so you're trading hand size for an extra permanent joker. Each subsequent Ectoplasm costs 1 additional hand size (-1, then -2, then -3). Worth it in long runs where joker slots are the bottleneck.
How to use Ectoplasm
Tier: B
Group: Jokers (Create, duplicate, or modify Jokers)
Best when: You have an editionless Joker, can spare hand size, and need an extra Joker slot. Each use costs more hand size.
