How to play Blackboard

Keep your held cards all black suits to activate x3. Smeared treats Spades/Clubs as the same suit for build consistency; suit specific payoffs like Arrowhead (Spades chips) and Onyx Agate (Clubs Mult) complement the plan.

Pulls against: Greedy/Lusty (red suit payoffs)

Best synergies

Smeared Joker
Arrowhead/Onyx Agate (black suit payoffs)

How it works

Blackboard gives X3 Mult when every card still held in your hand is a Spade or a Club. It also triggers when your hand is empty. Wild cards count as dark suits; a Stone card left in hand has no suit and blocks it. It is Uncommon, costs $6, available from the start, and Blueprint and Brainstorm can copy it.

yes

Best combos

Baron: Kings of Spades or Clubs held in hand give X1.5 each without breaking Blackboard.
Onyx Agate: Rewards playing Clubs, which pushes your deck toward dark suits.
Arrowhead: Rewards playing Spades, the other half of a dark-suit deck.
Mime: Retriggers held Kings for Baron while your hand stays dark.

Frequently asked questions

Does Blackboard trigger with no cards left in hand?

Yes. An empty hand counts, so playing your whole hand still gives X3 Mult.

Do Wild cards and Stone cards work with Blackboard?

Wild cards count as a Spade or Club. Stone cards have no suit, so one left in hand stops Blackboard from triggering.

Does Smeared Joker help Blackboard?

Not really. Smeared Joker merges Spades with Clubs and Hearts with Diamonds, but it never makes a red card count as a dark suit.
