How it works

Pareidolia makes every playing card count as a face card. Cards keep their real rank, suit and chip value, so a 7 still scores 7 chips, but anything that cares about face cards now treats your whole deck as faces. It only affects playing cards, not Tarots or Planets. It is Uncommon, costs $5 and cannot be copied by Blueprint or Brainstorm.

Sock and Buskin: Retriggers face cards, so with Pareidolia it retriggers every scored card.
Midas Mask: Every scored card turns Gold, which builds money very quickly.
Scary Face: +30 chips on every scored card instead of just Jacks, Queens and Kings.
Smiley Face: +5 Mult on every scored card, a cheap and steady boost.
Business Card: Each scored card gets the 1 in 2 chance at $2.

Frequently asked questions

Does Pareidolia make cards count as Kings or Queens?

No. Cards become face cards but keep their real rank, so jokers that look for actual Kings or Queens, like Baron or Triboulet, gain nothing from it.

What is the biggest danger with Pareidolia?

The Plant boss debuffs face cards, which now means every card. Plan to reroll or disable that boss, or carry something like Chicot.

Does Pareidolia need to be unlocked?

No. It is available from the start of a fresh profile.
